One of the downsides to converting from glass to stainless steel is the inability to see what is going on inside the fermenter. The engineers at Spike Brewing have addressed this with their 4 in. polycarbonate tri-clamp cap! They have designed a clear polycarbonate (same material as bullet proof glass) cap which allows you to see inside the top of the conical when it's fermenting. This has also been tested against common brewery chemicals and has held up against the likes of PBW and StarSan.
