Riesling is often thought of as a sweet dessert wine grape. While it certainly has the potential to be made into such a wine, it makes an equally delicious dry white wine. The sweetness of the grape is often due to the region it is grown in, with sweeter varieties coming from Germany and California, while less sweet varieties come from France, New York and Washington state. It is usually crisp due to a high acidity, and has very disctict floral and fruit flavors and aromas. The finished wines are often described as having peach, pear, apple and apricot flavors that burst forth on the palate. It pairs well with almost any food, but especially well with spicy food and Asian cuisine. A great juice that can be made into excellent wine!
