HBC-438 is a new experimental hop variety bred by Hop Breeding Company and made available through YCH Hops! This exciting new hop variety was bred by open pollination of YCR 123, a cultivar derived from subspecies neomexicanus. This hop is used in Russian River's Ron Mexico beer, a rotating seasonal available only as a pub draft beer. This hop imparts stone fruit and tropical notes from beer. Flavors and aromas from this exceptional hop have been describe vividly as mango, pineapple, coconut, grapefruit, lime and cedar. A truly unique hop perfect for delicious pale ales and IPAs!
