Mandarina Bavaria, along with Huell Melon and Hallertau Blanc, were bred from Cascade in Germany and released to the commercial market in 2012. Since that time, growth has increased as more breweries have been able to use this hop to great effect! This is primarily an aroma hop that contributes citrus and fruit notes to beer. Descriptors of this hop often include tangerine, lemon, and pineapple, with a resin and herbal characteristics in the finish. It is gaining popularity in American IPAs and for use in Brett-fermented beers.
