Syrah is one of the most popular red wine varietals found around the world, and for good reason! Though a relative newcomer to California, introduced to the state in the 1970's, it as become one of the most successful grape varietals grown there, and acreage of the grape continues to rise. It has rich tannins and a lot of color that give the finished wine a deep purple, almost black hue. Spicy and delicious, Syrah has flavors of anise, licorice and leather coupled with jammy fruit notes. A wonderful varietal all around!
