Vermentino is a light-skinned Italian grape that produced dry and refreshing wines similar to pinot grigios, sauvignon blancs and rieslings. It is zesty and herbaceous, with aromas and flavors of pear, white peach, lime and pink grapefruit, with grassy notes of leaves and green almonds. It can have a wonderful minerality with a hint of salt. While it makes an excellent wine by itself, it is also used as a blending grape in the production of fine Provence Rosé wines. Light to medium-bodied, Vermentino is an underrated wine that pairs well with rich fish such as halibut, fennel-spiced pork sausages or chicken tacos with lime, garlicy dishes such as pesto and shrimp pasta with an oil and vinegar sauce and bold goat cheese, pecorino or feta.
